Dreams of Decolonization untangles the theories and praxis of decolonization through storytelling from unheard and oppressed perspectives

Dreams of Decolonization was born out of the need for stories that told of a future of justice, transformative change, and an alternative future for the global south and worldwide. In a world headed for biodiversity death, war, lack of natural resources, climate migration, and climate destruction, we must now, more than ever, change the narratives that compound our colonized psyches.

Frustrated with Western hegemonic perspectives, higher education, inaccessibility of stories, and the need for global structural change, allie ho ventures to deconstruct ideas and knowledge into meaningful and understandable stories.

“When people are different from us, we fail to understand them. When we fail to understand them, we tend to move towards hate, discrimination, and violence, and towards that territory to tribal nature of, like, ‘Oh, if I don't take, something will be taken from me.’

And so I think the first step and our first flaw in humanity beginning globalization was that we first led with the idea of difference rather than understanding the other’s life.”

“You know, it's not fun to ask countries like the US, the EU, or Japan for money, I think countries are starting to see that this is demeaning. And that technical help is just a continuation of colonial policies. So I think in that sense, international organizations can be used to protect these countries against private interests.”
